This piece began with flavor. The warmth of vanilla and honey, delicate jasmine, and bright citrus inspired a balance of softness and strength. I brought that balance to life through the geisha and dragon, allowing taste to guide the story told through form.

The geisha’s quiet confidence rests alongside the dragon’s protective presence. Her calm expression and gentle features balance his bold textures and watchful gaze. Together, they express grace supported by strength.

The Details

Citrus Veil cake and jasmine tea–infused white chocolate ganache form the geisha’s head, neck, and torso and the dragon’s body. Rice cereal treats form the hair extensions, dragon’s head, and claws. Sugar paste, modeling chocolate, and edible paints complete the sculpted surfaces and decorative details.

Artistic Focus

My focus—and greatest challenge—was capturing the geisha’s quiet grace and the dragon’s protective nature through sculpting and painting. Soft contours and delicate brushwork shaped her expression, while bold forms, layered texture, and bronze tones gave the dragon his presence. The balance between them brought the story into focus.
