Draco
A study in edible detail and realism.
Inspiration
From imagination to form
Draco was my first exploration of highly realistic cake sculpture, bringing an imagined creature to life through carving, edible extensions, and painted detail. He later became part of Volume I, introducing the foundations behind my sculptural cake art.
Symbolism
Strength. Presence. Possibility.
For me, Draco represents the willingness to explore unfamiliar territory. This piece marked a turning point in my practice—discovering how far cake could take an idea through patience, observation, and experimentation.
The Details
A sculpted cake with edible horns and dimensional details, Draco explores how added forms can extend a cake’s silhouette and create character. Sculpted textures and layered edible painting bring definition and depth to the finished surface.
Artistic Focus
My focus was on making an imagined creature feel believable. The placement of the horns, the contours of the face, and the texture of the skin established his character. Painted shadows and highlights brought those elements together, giving Draco the presence that made this piece a milestone in my work.
